Goals for 2012

According to Zig Ziglar, “If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time”. It’s good to have goals! My goal in 2012 is to write 3 books, bringing my Ferox Series total to 4. The first book I wrote was 86,000 words and 270 draft pages long. (That’s 8 1/2 x 11 sheets, double-spaced.) The first book will be written by March 31, 2012 and will go through my first revision by April 30, 2012. This book will actually become Book 1 in the series since it will give less information about the Ferox than my first written...

Your Audience is Smarter Than You Think

Your Audience is Smarter Than You Think

I recently read a book by a new author. All the predictors point to this book (which shall remain nameless) being the next big thing. The premise was relatively new and exciting. It’s a little Sci-Fi, a little Young Author, a little Romance, and some good political intrigue thrown in for fun. It was everything I like in a book and the exact audience I’m writing for. However, I had a huge problem with this book. The author did some pretty obvious foreshadowing very early in the book. Blinking Neon Light foreshadowing. Additional...

Next Book Idea Formed

According to Wikipedia, luck or is good fortune which occurs beyond one’s control without regard to one’s will, intention, or desired result. Some people believe our lives are ruled by luck. Some think it’s just the math of the universe. All things are seeking to be equal. But why do some people seem to get all of the good opportunities in life? They’re in the right place at the right time. The numbers fall in their favor. Some people feel they are just unlucky and can never get ahead. When things start looking up, Lady...

It’s NaNoWriMo

It’s NaNoWriMo

November is NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month! The goal is to write a 50,000-word (175-page) book throughout the Month of November Although this sounds extremely ambitious, the goal is not to have a ready-to-publish manuscript. It’s more about relaxing and just focusing on output. From the NaNoWriMo about page: Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort...

Manuscript Draft is Complete

Posted by on Nov 24, 2009 in Books | 1 comment

My First Draft is complete!! It’s 297 pages, 12pt, double-spaced. (In case you were curious.) I printed out 10 hard copies for my friends and family to proof. I need fresh eyes to help me find typos and grammatical errors. I’m also looking for feedback on my writing, plot and character building skills. Do they think my writing is marketable? Once I get the copies back and make my revisions, my manuscript will be complete. Now I’m researching different publishing methods. Do I want to self-publish? Do I want to use a...

I’ve been a busy girl. I now have 230 pages written in my manuscript. The draft will be printed for friends and family to proof before Christmas. I’d like to publish in 2010. In the meantime, I’ve updated the Abilities information on the Ferox site at feroxworld.com/abilities. I’ve reorganized the naming structure to group like abilities together. Check it out. Also, I’ve added descriptions of the levels. I’ve also put up the new OmniBellum site at omnibellum.com. This site is the official government site of...

Twitter Recap

Posted by on Aug 16, 2009 in Blog, Books, Websites | 0 comments

I keep small updates on my Twitter account, but here’s a recap. I’ve been working on the book and the associated web pages. My author site: stphenieyoung is now a flash site. That was fun to learn. I plan to work more on that so that there’s a non-flash version for those looking at the site from their phones or whatever. This site has a little blurb about me and has my blog page. It also has links to my other pages. The actual book site is lionheartseries.com. It’s mostly a placeholder page right now with some design...

Welcome to my blog. My primary method of communication will be via Twitter. See my Twitter link to the right. My name is Stephenie and I am an aspiring writer. I’m writing a book about a girl coming into her special abilities. As if being a hormomal teenager isn’t hard enough! Jennifer not only has to deal with her emotions, but the emotions of everyone around her. Jennifer is an empath. Christopher is quiet but very clever. He’s an inventor. And he likes Jen. But does Jen really like him or is she just feeling HIS...
